2024 video games

The new year is already rolling and started with a bang in 2024 with the likes of Tekken 8 for fighting game fans, Persona 3 for RPG fans and Helldivers 2 for shooter fans. For any of you itching for some adventure games, more RPG shenanigans or hack n’ slash fun, look no further than this list.

Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the sequel to the original Dragon’s Dogma that was released in 2012 to decent acclaim. DD2 however, is seeming to up the ante on just about everything the original was going for, from story and world building to gameplay and bosses. Spearheaded by Hideaki Itsuno, the director for Devil May Cry 5, the sequel has been in development for ~5 years and may be the next game to the quench the thirst for big, open world RPGs since 2022’s Elden Ring. Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be available on March 22nd, 2024.

Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade is the new IP from Sony that looks like it was made for fans of Nier: Automata and the Bayonetta games. It’s a classic hack n’ slash action game sporting a futuristic post-apocalyptic theme and a large emphasis on its story and characters. And there’s just about everything fans of this genre come to expect: slick melee combat, flash combo moves, absurdly over the top bosses and pure spectacle. Follow Eve's mission to take back Earth and save humanity when Stellar Blade releases on April 26th, 2024.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2

The first Hellblade game is one that’s held dearly by many people. Its themes go over serious subject matter such as anxiety, depression and death. Many people assumed that the end of the first game signaled a closing chapter for Senua’s story, but eventually a sequel was announced to shock and excitement. Details of the game are being held quite close to the chest, but from everything that’s been seen so far, it seems to even darker and gruesome in its presentation. Senua’s story continues on May 21st, 2024.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor is the long awaited new IP that fans of Atlus’ games have been waiting for. Persona fans specifically have a very keen eye on this due to it wearing that style that some of the more recent Persona games have been known to have. It’s also lead by Katsura Hashino, the director of Persona 3, 4 and 5. It’s his next big project and fans of those games are willing to give this one a try since it’s not like Persona, rather it’s a more traditional epic fantasy JRPG with a mix of real time combat and turn based combat. And since it’s a JRPG, the focus will most definitely be on its story and colorful cast of characters. Metaphor: ReFantazio has no current release date, but is set to be out in 2024.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

This one is huge for fans of anything Indiana Jones. A fantasy many people have been begging for years for, this game is a first person game where you finally play as Indiana Jones himself in another one of his great tales. The story actually being set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade movies, it follows Indiana Jones as he goes on a journey to uncover the secret of a series of ancient sites across the world that form a perfect circle when mapped together. It’ll include the classic puzzles, running from traps and rope swinging that Indy fans have loved for decades. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has no current release date, but is slated to be out in 2024.
