There are also some things that we need to know about you so that we can provide you with a safe and friendly experience. This is your 'Data'

You have the right to know what data we collect and what we do with it. You also have the right to tell us not to collect any data or to get rid of what we already have. This is your 'Privacy'.

For everyone who uses VoiceBox:

VoiceBox collects non-identifying information to help us understand how people are using our website. This includes how many people visit VoiceBox, what pages are looked at and length of time on a page. 

We collect data using Google Analytics and cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer to help us analyse how you use VoiceBox. You can choose not to accept cookies. If you would like to know more about Google analytics, please visit their website.

We keep all of the data we collect securely online. Only certain VoiceBox staff can see the data we collect.

Where further and relevant permissions have been given, data may also be used by VoiceBox for additional use such as sending newsletters and communicating Ambassador opportunities.

Your data will be erased if you delete your VoiceBox account.

Please note that if you have emailed us or filled in the ‘Contact Us’ form, your email address and message content will be stored securely in our email database.

For young contributors: 

You must create an account and provide some information if you wish to contribute to VoiceBox. This is to communicate any information relevant to your submissions such as editorial changes and payment. This data cannot be accessed by anyone else visiting the VoiceBox website. The data we require is your:

  • Email
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Country
  • Age range

While we need this data for the purpose of editorial communication, you can elect to be published under a pseudonym.

If you provide it, we may also hold some additional data. This is to help us get a better understanding of our audience and ensure we are carrying out our social mission in the most effective way. Additional data may include:

  • Your interests
  • How you heard about us 
  • Information you may have entered in a research survey or form

If you delete your account, all primary data and additional data will be erased. Your published pieces will remain on the site under an anonymised account. 

We define young contributors for the purpose of data management and safeguarding as anyone aged between 13-25. Anyone under 13 should not create a VoiceBox account or submit to VoiceBox.

For Ambassadors:

We require a little more information from our Ambassadors. This is so we can offer you opportunities that compliment your interests, skills and other commitments. If you would like to join the VoiceBox Ambassador programme, you may be asked to provide: 

  • Name
  • Pronouns 
  • Age
  • Country 
  • Other commitments 
  • Skills 
  • Interests and/or hobbies 

If you would like to withdraw from the VoiceBox Ambassador programme, this data will be erased. 

We define Ambassadors for the purpose of data management and safeguarding as anyone aged between 13-25. Anyone under 13 should not apply for the VoiceBox Ambassador programme.

For over 26 and over with an account: 

You must create an account and provide some information if you wish to follow your favourite creators. The data we require is your:

  • Email
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Country
  • Age range

If you provide it, we may also hold some additional data. This is to help us get a better understanding of our audience and ensure we are carrying out our social mission in the most effective way. Additional data may include:

  • Your interests
  • How you heard about us 
  • Information you may have entered in a research survey or form

If you delete your account, all primary data and additional data will be erased. 

What we do not do

We do not sell your data to anyone.

We do not give out any contact details, unless asked to by police in order to protect someone.

We do not keep your data after you have deleted your account. 

We do not keep your Ambassador data after you have withdrawn from the programme. Please note that if you have withdrawn as an Ambassador your account will still remain active and should be deleted separately if you want this data removed. 

Your rights

For everyone who uses VoiceBox:

You can browse VoiceBox without creating an account. 

You can refuse to accept a link request or a request for consent.

If you have opted-in to receive newsletters, you can unsubscribe at any time. 

For young contributors:

You can see what data we have about you.

You can object to the processing of your data, restrict the processing of your data, or request for it to be deleted.

You can anonymise your work at any time by changing the name under your profile.

You can delete your account.

For Ambassadors:

You can see what data we have about you.

You can object to the processing of your data, restrict the processing of your data, or request for it to be deleted.

You can withdraw from the Ambassador programme at any time. 

You can delete your account.

For over 26 and over with an account: 

You can see what data we have about you.

You can object to the processing of your data, restrict the processing of your data, or request for it to be deleted.

You can delete your account.

VoiceBox is a strictly 13+ website. 

If you make a request relating to any of the rights listed above, we will consider each request in accordance with all applicable data protection laws and regulations.

Any information and personal data we collect is solely for the purposes of carrying out our mission, delivering our projects and conducting research to help organisations make better services, products and policies for young people.

The information we provide may include links to other websites outside of VoiceBox. We carefully choose sites and information but we cannot guarantee the websites will be working or that the information on that site is accurate or up to date.

If you are upset about how we collect or use your data you can speak to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Payments 

All payments are made strictly through PayPal. If you are under 18 and reside in the UK we may be able to accommodate bank transfer.
