Kiyomizu Temple
The Kiyomizu Temple, or "clear water temple," is a Buddhist Temple part of UNESCO's "Ancient Heritage of Kyoto." The name of the temple reflects Buddhist principles of mindfulness and non-attachment, symbolized in this photo by the clean blue skies.
Honoring the past
This statue sports a white yodare-kake, or children's apron as an offering to the Ojizo spirit, an other-wordly being that guides lost souls to the underworld.
